
A local construction firm used cement to fill up cracks and holes on the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge
The Nanjing Construction Commission declared Tuesday that the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, in East China's Jiangsu Province is safe after cracks and holes were repaired with cement a few weeks ago. The local government is still investigating the case.
The problems were discovered earlier this month, a year after the bridge had a 50 million-yuan ($7.32 million) renovation, the local Modern Express reported.
Thirty fissures were detected in the bridge's granite railings with the widest cracklarge enough to insert a person's hand.
